Synopsis
Set in a weathered shore town facing decline disguised as “revitalization,” The Gargoyle Boys follows two young outsiders who avoid adulthood by observing it. Below their rooftop perch, a burned-out priest—still inside the institution but empty of conviction—awaits a final diocesan walk-through that will likely shutter his church and clear the way for redevelopment.
When storms and blackouts begin to expose a strange relationship between human avoidance and the stone gargoyles atop the church, the boys discover that their instinct to stay—awkwardly, unqualified, and without authority—has real consequences. As civic leaders quietly push preservation plans that mask a pipeline toward condos and retail, the boys’ small acts of presence begin to stabilize both a vulnerable man the town has ignored and the priest who has already resigned internally. By the time the institution arrives to close the building, the church is no longer a relic—it is actively in use, legally protected by reality itself.
Tonal Positioning
